Reaching Amsterdam

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is 15 km to the south west of the city. Many airlines serve Amsterdam . There is a direct train to Amsterdam Central Station. The train station is located under the main airport hall. Taxis from Schiphol are expensive and only use legal which have blue number plates. Airport Shuttles operated by Connexxion transfer direct to Amsterdam hotels.

If you brought a bike why not cycle into the city using the 15km bike route from the airport to Amsterdam . Turn right as you leave the airport terminal and you will find the cycle path about 200 metres down the road.

Train
Most trains arrive and depart from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Other train stations are Bijlmer, Amstel, Muiderpoort to the southeast, to the south RAI, Zuid WTC (south), to the west Lelylaan and Sloterdijk (both west). Schiphol airport also has its own train station, with many trains to Amsterdam Centraal.

By bus
International bus services terminate at Amstel Station.

By car
From the east, the A1 motorway leads directly to Amsterdam and from the south the A2. All motorways connect to the ring motorway, the A10. The speed limit on Dutch motorways is 120 km/h and the A10 is 80 km/h.

By sea
The maritime Passenger Terminal Amsterdam is for cruise ships. The nearest ferry port is Ijmuiden and ferry terminals at Rotterdam Europoort, and Hook of Holland .
